COMPANY OVERVIEW
The R&B Timber Group, established in 1952, is a diversified company which competes in various markets, namely the treated wooden pole market, pulp and paper market, both locally and on the African continent.
We are a passionately involved Family Business. This personal touch gives us the leading edge and we are able to make quick decisions. We firmly believe in mutually-beneficial business partnerships.
Our mainstream industry is treated poles of which we are the market leaders. The Group owns two timber treatment plants, situated in KZN, South Africa. We treat eucalyptus timber for the agricultural, power utility, and telecommunications sectors throughout Africa, and the globe.
Production capacities are 120 000 cubic metres of treated poles, and 30 000 Tons of pulp, annually.
(As an example, a 7m 100/119 treated pole is 0,0988 cubic metres, therefore we can produce 1 215 091 poles annually, which is 101 258 poles per month).
The R&B Timber Group is one of four official suppliers to Eskom - SA.
The Group owns 2546 hectares of planted timber land.
We have secure supply agreements for over 30 000 hectares of timber-land, and long-term utility / telecom pole contracts with various Blue Chip Companies, securing a further 20 000 tons per annum.
From our expansive timber land, we are able to draw as much material as the market requires. Being self-sufficient is a luxury that no one else in the pole industry has.
Our footprint into Africa is vast. We have supplied quality poles with unmatched service to many countries on the African continent, making us the supplier of choice. We are continually striving to reach new heights in expanding throughout the globe as we feel there is great need for our products.
Our HARDPOLE ™ Brand has undoubtedly separated us from our competition in the market-place, and been a critical success factor for us.
