THE IMPORTANCE OF RESPONSIBLE FORESTRY

With increasing pressure to reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment, architects and building designers are increasingly being called upon to balance functionality and cost objectives with reduced environmental impact. Wood is considered a cost-effective material and a renewable resource that can help achieve this balance. Made known through the life cycle assessment (LCA) studies, wood products comprise of less embodied energy, allow for a lower air and water pollution, and have a lighter carbon footprint over any other materials commonly used in buildings. Wood buildings require less energy to construct and operate over time. To find out more on how wood reduces the environmental impact of building, you can watch the following video.
