Pole building consists of a quickly constructed building in which vertical poles are secured in the ground to serve as both the foundation and framework. It all started in the 1930s where pole building was established as a simplified building technique adapted from timber framing. Initially building poles were used to construct barns on agricultural land. Modern developments found a myriad of uses for building poles including housing, commercial use, churches, picnic shelters and storage buildings. These structures have the potential to replicate the functionality of other buildings but are more affordable and require less time to construct.
